Letter to the editor:

Wrong measure of success

A letter (Senator working for Nevadans) in the Aug. 26 Sun applauds Southern Nevadans for the innovative ways they’ve “conserved water to accommodate population growth.”

Given the continuing decline of Lakes Mead and Powell, it would appear that increasing population is not a good method of conservation. Rather than using growth as an indication of success, we might do better to consider sustainability as the primary goal.
