As a 71-year-old veteran, I was able to walk into the VA hospital without an appointment and, 45 minutes later, walked out having received my first COVID-19 vaccination and an appointment for my second shot.
The VA staff were professional, efficient, caring and personable. Why are my 77-year-old wife and many other vulnerable senior citizens unable to get an appointment? And why, once they do get a shot, do they have to go through the same scheduling minefield to get the second?
Perhaps Gov. Steve Sisolak and his COVID-19 task force should copy the VA’s plan, modify it as necessary for multiple sites, and implement it.
