The seven Republican senators who joined the Democrats in voting to convict former President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial this month should be hailed as great people. The other 43 have no spine. Are they that afraid of Trump?
The seven must not be afraid of him; we all know how he thinks he can make it difficult for them to get reelected.
If they are doing their job, there should be no problem. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., bends to Trump’s will. If told to jump, he would ask how high.
There have been five people killed, and two were Capitol police. How can Trump say he leads the party of law and order when House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was begging Trump to tweet or go on television to tell the mob to stop and go home? Members of Congress’ lives were in danger.
