I recently listened to a woman on TV describe her mother, trapped in the rubble of the collapsed residential building in Surfside, Fla. Her father was out of town, so she was spared from losing both of her parents.
It hit home when she said that her mom sleeps over at her house a lot, and the night before, she decided to stay at her condo, even though she was coming back the following day. It reminded me that every day, we make hundreds, maybe even thousands of choices. Those choices have an immediate impact on our lives going forward. It is the power of cause and effect.
Something as simple as deciding to stay home can alter the course of a person’s life. People look at me strangely when I say that missing a bus can change your life. The bus could be in a massive accident, killing everyone on board, or you might miss meeting that special someone you have always dreamed about.
Or, it could all happen on the next bus. Then again, it will probably just get you where you want to go.
