In the June 10 letter “Get creative to solve water crisis,” the writer talks about our prolonged water shortage in the Southwest while flooding continues in other parts of the country, and I have wondered about that for over 15 years.
Why can’t we create deep channels from the flooded areas to the Southwest? This might be accomplished using topography maps via NASA satellites in conjunction with the Army Corps of Engineers.
I know it would be a monumental undertaking, but so was building the Boulder Dam in the 1930s. Plus, it would prevent the loss of properties now suffering in those flooded areas. If we had started something like this even 10 years ago, it would most likely be done by now.
