LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Congress acts in own self-interest

Given all the politics going I wonder what if infrastructure improvement is important, or addressing climate change, or decreasing the high cost of medicine, or controlling the spread of the COVID virus.

If these are priorities, why do we present a bill that addresses all of them, only for our representatives to add on their own special interests?

Congress should examine one thing at a time and quit trying to add on other self-interest items, which delays or defeats the things we, the people, need.

Present a single-purpose bill that addresses these problems and get something done. I understand these representatives have their own constituents, but they are all beholden to the good of the country.

Make them do their job and if they can’t, don’t give them paid breaks for spring, Thanksgiving, Christmas, summer or whatever else they deem is owed to them.
