LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Drones don’t promote peace

Thank you, Casey Harrison, for the excellent Oct. 3 story “Another week of anti-war protests at Creech completed: Activists vow they won’t let up.” The carefully researched piece captures our Shut Down Creech mission to end the U.S. weaponized killer drone program at Creech Air Force Base.

Weaponized drones, more frequently than is publicly revealed, target civilians, as shown in the Aug. 29 murder in Kabul of 10 members of the Ahmadi family, including seven young children.

These extrajudicial killings make a mockery of justice. None of those targeted and killed in drone attacks are permitted to speak up in self-defense. Drone killings make us enemies, not allies.

The drone program must end. The best way to a just peace is diplomacy, not war.
