It is disheartening to see the debacle of the withdrawal of our troops and Americans from Afghanistan, particularly given the costs of American lives after some 20 years in that country. The unnecessary loss of the 13 lives of our service men and women killed in this withdrawal are the result of President Joe Biden’s ineptness and choices.
Acts of terrorism against the United States and the Western world were long ago recognized by our allies as a threat to civilization. Great Britain, Germany, Spain and other NATO allies knew this and had troops stationed in Afghanistan to fight this terrorist plague. Republican and Democratic administrations, and our allies, took to the battleground in the terrorists’ homeland. With Biden’s withdrawal, the battleground will be closer to home.
So quickly many have forgotten the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
Biden apologists ignore his incompetence to downplay this tragedy and spread the responsibility for this failure by endeavoring to fault our military and intelligence agencies. And while the TV news media show the return of the bodies of our men and women killed in Afghanistan, Biden looks at his watch.
That act of indifference typifies the character of Biden and some politicians who never wore a uniform and never served in the armed services. He is incapable of showing respect for the very people who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect him and our nation.
All Biden has accomplished is to embolden our enemies and weaken the security of the United States.
