LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

There’s always enough money

David Williams’ Sept. 26 column, “Stop shipping water east across the Rockies,” protests the desire of two Colorado cities — Aurora and Colorado Springs — to pipe Western slope water to the Eastern slope to maintain grass yards.

I agree with Williams, if that is the purpose of such construction. This issue is a perfect example of how major infrastructure expenditure seems to be no problem when simple greed is involved, like nice, green lawns. However, the same kind of expenditure is not even considered when the purpose is to alleviate the severe water needs of the drought-ridden Southwest.

We can throw up our hands and simply give up on major areas of this country, like Southern California, Arizona and Nevada. Or, we can take the major steps needed to alleviate this water need. It is simply a matter of will.
