LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Help someone, while you can

In December 1958, a small article appeared in the Las Vegas Sun that told of a little girl who was dying in a hospital after getting burned in a house fire. She was giving up the will to live until well wishers started to send her cards and presents.

Her appreciative mother was so grateful to these wonderful, caring people that she credited them with helping save her daughter’s life. She said that if all these people had waited, she may have died before Christmas, but now she was given the will to live.

How about you and I? We have an amazing power. We can acknowledge others and spread our faith. Or we can simply ignore them.

If you’re anything like I am, I know I don’t fare too well in this. I can often be self-centered and absorbed with myself. Let’s not wait. Let’s send out that card or letter today. Tomorrow may be too late.
