A noted professional organization, the American Veterinary Medical Association, endorses the torturous and barbaric use of Ventilation Shutdown Plus (VSD+), a horrific mass extermination whereby factory farms deliberately trap millions of animals in airless sheds and leave them to slowly suffocate and die of heat stress. Factory farms believe that VSD+ will stop the spread of disease.
Typically, animals in factory farms are raised in extremely overcrowded conditions. They have no room to move. They are stuck in their own excrement. There is no fresh air or sunlight in these facilities. This creates the perfect environment for the spread of disease. These wretched conditions spell disaster for the vulnerable animals.
At the very least, factory farms should euthanize animals quickly and painlessly. It is unconscionable that a professional organization has given its blessing for VSD+. The public should know about the horrors these animals face.
