LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Educate people on nuclear war

What was the decade in which you last watched a 60-minute documentary about nuclear weapons on FOX, CNN, or MSNBC? If under age 40, have you ever viewed such coverage?

Such a yearly documentary could cover the nuclear developments of each of the nine nations with nuclear weapons, the mental health of their heads of state, recent terrorist developments, and the amount spent on nuclear weapons in the prior year.

Such a public service could inform viewers as to how many Hiroshima-equivalent nuclear bombs there are.

Neglecting this kind of coverage may represent the greatest act of censorship in U.S. history. It is antithetical to a democracy. Citizens cannot make informed decisions without evidence.

Such coverage in 2021 might have illuminated Vladimir Putin’s treacherous mentality. But the networks spent excess hours on Britney Spears, Gabby Petito, Kyle Rittenhouse and other comparatively trivial topics.

Had there been yearly nuclear weapons coverage in the past 50 years, it is likely your taxes would be lower and there would have been more funds to improve education and health care.
