LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Trumpers played for fools

Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani were the attorneys for former President Donald Trump, and their claims that the Dominion voting machines were rigged in the 2020 election were rejected by the Supreme Court.

There was no evidence presented in any court to support their allegations of fraud.

In fact, in response to a defamation suit by Dominion, Powell’s defense was not that she was telling the truth, but that the suit should be dismissed because “No reasonable person would conclude that the statements were truly statements of fact.”

Let that sink in. Trump’s own lawyer says that only a sucker would have believed her claims about the voting machines.

Now fast forward to Jim Marchant, candidate for Nevada secretary of state, and his QAnon-backers throughout Nevada, but especially Nye County.

Marchant is basing his campaign on the allegation that the 2020 election was rigged by faulty Dominion voting machines.

Even though no evidence of fraud in the voting machines was presented in any court, and the lawyers for Trump declare that anyone who believes what they were saying about the voting machines is a fool, we nonetheless have a candidate for secretary of state basing his whole campaign on the same old phony claim.

The bottom line is that Nye County Trump supporters are basing their actions on something only a fool would believe.

Then again, why should they allow facts to stand in their way? No fool ever does.
