Alex Jones is going to go broke for deliberately promoting bogus information meant only to solidify his celebrity status among the far-right fringe.
Whether or not his intent was to inflict added pain and suffering to the good people of Sandy Hook is moot. The fact is he succeeded in tormenting the parents of all those executed grade-school children.
And while the blood money that was awarded by the jury in his trial will never bring back even one lost soul, it might send a message that we are still a nation where honesty has value.
We can only hope this begins a trend of bringing to justice all of the others who are equally determined to peddle lies, deceits and phony conspiracy theories simply to undermine our democracy.
