Adding appointees to school boards is a bad idea. We want board members who make policy and manage the districts to be directly accountable to voters.
Who can hold the appointed board accountable? Whoever appointed the appointed. Voters should be able to recall or vote out any board members as they wish.
Professional education experts may consult the school board but they are not the ideal people to run it.
Elected school members are closest to the people.
