People entitled to peace and quiet

Thank you for printing the article “Lost sheep, jangled nerves” in the Jan. 9 edition of the Sun. This article details the harmful effects that we all suffer when we are subjected to loud, irritating noise in our neighborhoods and on our highways.

I often feel forgotten amid the clamor of loud motorcycles, cars without mufflers, thundering sound systems, construction power tools and the dreaded No. 1 public enemy of quiet enjoyment — Leaf Blower Man.

Most of this noise is unnecessary and can be abated or greatly reduced, yet people in their cars deliberately make ear-piercing racket to destroy our health and well-being by altering their mufflers to produce a high-pitched screaming sound.

We can stand together and fight this nerve-racking menace. Quiet is our God-given right and we need it to live. Quiet is a natural resource like fresh water and clean air. We need it to survive and flourish.
