The Sun’s handicapping contest wasn’t immune to the considerable hype surrounding this week’s Sunday Night Football game.
All four prognosticators weighed in on the Patriots at Ravens showdown with one of their six weekly picks from the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook’s Supercontest lines. One of the sports staffers used the game as his two-point best bet of the week.
Opinions are split on the game, just as they are in the market in general.

Points: 32 (27-21)
Jaguars plus-1 vs. Texans in London
Panthers minus-3.5 vs. Titans
Eagles minus-4.5 vs. Bears
Chargers plus-3.5 vs. Packers
Ravens plus-3 vs. Patriots
Two-point best bet: Vikings plus-2.5 at Chiefs. There’s way too much value here to make any other game the best bet. As of publication time, the Vikings are as high as 4.5-point favorites with Patrick Mahomes unlikely to return to injury. I’ll scoop the seven points of market value.

Points: 28 (22-26)
Texans minus-1 vs. Jaguars in London
Panthers minus-3.5 vs. Titans
Vikings plus-2.5 at Chiefs
Seahawks minus-6 vs. Buccaneers
Packers minus-3.5 at Chargers
Two-point best bet: Patriots minus-3 at Ravens. Just stop betting against the Patriots. They might lose a game this season and I’ll take the loss when they do, but I’ll also believe it when I see it. The defense is other worldly and should be able to stop Lamar Jackson in the air and on the ground. Three points isn’t close enough to get me to bet against New England.

Points: 27.5 (22-25-1)
Panthers minus-3.5 vs. Titans
Eagles minus-4.5 vs. Bears
Steelers plus-1 vs. Colts
Lions plus-2.5 at Raiders
Ravens plus-3 vs. Patriots
Two-point best bet: Giants plus-7 vs. Cowboys. I don’t trust the Cowboys, especially on the road. And neither should you. All games in this NFC East rivalry seem to be competitive. Expect a cold night on primetime television and plenty of between-the-tackles running of the ball.

Vikings plus-2.5 at Chiefs
Browns minus-3 at Broncos
Packers minus-3.5 at Chargers
Patriots minus-3 at Ravens
Two-point best bet: Colts minus-1. Pittsburgh is playing better than expected with its backup quarterback, but the Colts’ former backup quarterback is playing even better. Jacoby Brissett will be the difference in this one.
