One aspect of Gov. Jim Gibbons’ personality that doesn’t get enough attention is his sparkling sense of humor. His water pipeline routine could be slated for the humor pantheon, perhaps alongside Abbot and Costello’s “Who’s on First?” Just a few months ago he went into the heart of Gibbons Country and told a Fallon audience that he thought the project should be scrapped, the local media reported. But this week, after indicating that the newspaper had mischaracterized what he said, he told a Southern Nevada group the pipeline was part of the solution. Now that’s funny. If he could keep switching positions and criticizing newspapers in rural Nevada, the Democrats might have a chance in 2010 against Nevada’s funny man.
