If you are a Democrat and you are worried about the nasty tone of the presidential race, never fear. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says not only is it not a problem, it’s going to be over well before the convention. Here’s what he said Friday on Bloomberg TV: “The negative toll on Obama and Clinton will end five minutes after the nominee is chosen and that will be before the first of July.” I must tell you that Reid’s record as a clairvoyant is mixed, but generally pretty good. And his certitude that it will be over July 1 would seem to indicate that he thinks Barack Obama is going to win because Hillary Clinton can’t have a majority of pledged delegates by then. But none of this should be construed as a Reid endorsement of Obama. Right?
