LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Iraq should pay for U.S. military’s fuel

I read an Associated Press article Thursday that reported Iraq’s oil revenue is estimated to be between $35 billion and $60 billion in the fall. The article also stated that the United States is paying an average of $3.23 a gallon for gasoline, diesel and jet fuel used by our military.

As the article pointed out, this equates to $153 million each month. My question is, why are we paying one red cent for the fuel we use to fight for Iraq’s fledgling democracy? Four thousand young American lives have been overpayment.

The Iraqis should be ashamed to have the audacity to charge us for fuel to defend them! When is this country going to wake up? Just maybe after November when President Bush, a buffoon, is out of office. We can only hope.
