Sometimes government is just stupid. How else to explain an invitation that went out last week from the governor and his transportation department? The invitation was beautiful – embossed and in four colors. Certainly not a cheap invite. And to what? The April 24 groundbreaking for an I-15 road project in North Las Vegas. So, at a time when Gibbons is slicing road projects for Southern Nevada, he spends more than is normal for a fancy invitation to one of the road projects that has been spared the knife. Of course, as expensive as the invite was, it is a drip in the bucket of money the state has. But there is a principle here, isn’t there? And this from the folks who want to find waste in government? Got a mirror, governor?
