LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

No consequences for Congress’ wrongdoings

Dave Mesker’s Friday letter to the editor, headlined “Congress is to blame for nation’s problems,” was great, and he is spot on as to where our (U.S. taxpayers’) troubles really begin. I, for one, am sick and tired of listening to political hacks blaming current and past presidents for their (Congress’) own failures: Jimmy Carter didn’t do this; Bill Clinton failed to do that; George Bush is a loser, etc., ad nauseam.

Another galling fact is that now we have three U.S. senators running around raising millions upon millions of dollars trying to gain more power and buy a better job, but on someone else’s dime. Meanwhile they gladly pocket the Senate salary they receive for a job they didn’t have time to do.

Also, if their quest fails, they just slip back to the nice soft job in the Senate Club. Beautiful. But where, for heaven’s sake, in the voters’ arena — the arena they pretend to identify with — can such stuff occur? The question is rhetorical, as we all know the answer: Nowhere but Washington, D.C.

Enough already, members of Congress! Get serious or get out!
