All this talk and all this ink about Sen. John McCain’s age is not at all the real issue. To the great state of Nevada and its people, Mr. McCain is just the wrong candidate.
The senator from nearby Arizona has voted repeatedly in support of the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump. He has voted to end wagering on college sports, an issue he should really research first before condemning. For those who remember the college basketball point-shaving scandal a few years back, it originated on the campus of Arizona State University and was foiled by the sports book watchdogs in Las Vegas.
The issues that Nevadans say are most important to them — ending a wasteful war in Iraq, sustaining the driving force behind our local economy (legal gaming) and keeping toxic waste out of our state — are the very things that Mr. McCain supports without discussion.
