Experience not all it’s cracked up to be

I totally agree with George Berry’s Monday letter regarding the statements that many people make about Sen. Barack Obama’s lack of experience. I do not recall any past president of this nation who had previous experience as president of the United States of America.

Consider this: In 1966 Ronald Reagan went from movie star to governor of California, was reelected in 1970, and 10 years later was elected president of the United States — with no foreign policy experience, no lawmaking experience. And he held that office for two terms. At least Obama has sat in the U.S. Senate. Oh, some will say it’s been for only a short time, but that doesn’t mean he’s not capable.

Many children in this country have dreamed of growing up to be president. I’m sure President George W. Bush did — the only thing different is his dream became our nightmare. Thank God his dream will be over soon. However, our nightmare will go on, and on, and on.
