Regarding Phoebe Sweet’s Friday story in the Las Vegas Sun headlined “Public opinion an afterthought: Environmentalists say climate change report pays only ‘lip service’ to input”:
Why did Gov. Jim Gibbons waste taxpayers’ money and people’s time with his appointed Climate Change Task Force when he has already proved he won’t listen and do the best thing for Nevada?
If his intent is to look good at our expense, he will not win against the strength of commitment I have witnessed by the growing number of citizens wanting to have a clean, prosperous and sustainable Nevada.
The writer, who has worked with the U.N. Environment Program and the European Union on environmental issues, is the environment chairwoman of the League of Women Voters of the Las Vegas Valley.
