LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Bush has set U.S. on the path to failure

The Bush administration can’t end soon enough. The effects of the Bush economic policies have culminated in the second recession of his presidency.

His disastrous foreign policy now sees Russia taking advantage of his hollow “cowboy rhetoric” and our past allies are reluctant to stand by us. The president recently stated publicly that he doesn’t think America has any problems. Within those thoughts lies the problem.

World history has shown that all great societies are plagued by greed, immorality and the economic gap between rich and poor. America’s problems are exacerbated by poor health care for millions of its citizens, a crumbling infrastructure, an economy mortgaged to foreign countries, and a lack of leadership that could not have been imagined prior to the election of George W. Bush.

Has our president put us on the fast track for the failure of our great republic? Can we stumble through until January? Will our problems cause us to be surpassed by China and Russia? Time will tell, but it’s obvious the Bush domestic policy can no longer ask that Americans “go shopping.”
