LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Mainstream media, tabloids and credibility

I thought Clarence Page had an interesting column in the Las Vegas Sun on Saturday, where he made the point that two scoops (John Edwards and Jesse Jackson) do not make the National Enquirer a credible news source.

Let me suggest to Page that there is an easy way to begin the evaluation of the credibility of any political story in the National Enquirer. If the story involves a Republican scandal that has not been reported by the “MSM” — mainstream media — then doubt its credibility, because the “MSM” would have been all over it, with or without reliable sources.

If the story involves a Democratic scandal, then you at least need to read it and judge for yourself whether or not it is credible, because you can be certain that if it is true, the “MSM” will cover it up until forced to report it — and then only in small print and buried in back of the news.
