FLASHPOINT:

Lost in the blizzard of results Super Tuesday …

Lost in the blizzard of results Super Tuesday in the presidential sweepstakes was a California vote that could have great implications for Nevada. Voters to the West rejected attempts to nullify compacts with Indian tribes that will dramatically expand gaming in California. The vote came despite opposition from racetracks and the Culinary Union folks — not a good political season for them so far. The propositions could add 17,000 slot machines in California, and you can be sure this is not the last expansion the tribes will put before voters. And by spending a fortune and arguing the tax benefits to the state, they may continue to win, too. But don’t worry: It will never have an impact here. Really.
