So will that UnitedHealth-Sierra Health merger be good for the state? No need to wait for the feds to decide — the politicians already have their positions. Or lack thereof. The political dance on this has been marvelously horrifying to watch. First, Gov. Jim Gibbons beats the Democrats to the punch and announces his concerns. Then his insurance commissioner approves the deal, although she has ... concerns. The governor is concerned again. By now some Democrats, unions and doctors have organized to be concerned themselves — but they sound like they are really against it. The governor, though, remains concerned. Meanwhile, nobody really knows what the impact will be. But we should probably be ... concerned.
