If you want to know what separates Republicans from Democrats, it’s that they know how to abandon principles and enmities much quicker and fall in line to be like Al Davis — just win, baby. You saw it two years ago in Nevada when Bob Beers lost to Jim Gibbons in the GOP gubernatorial primary, then supported him and now is his vice governor. And look at how many Republicans are holding their noses and backing John McCain after Mitt Romney got out. The latest was Nevada Sen. John Ensign, who has as much in common with McCain as he does with Harry Reid. Hmm — that analogy may be even better than I thought. If only the Democrats could be this jellyfish-like, they might win more races.
