We are witnessing a serious problem in the Republican Party, as the conservatives who control the party are outraged that Sen. John McCain will become the Republican candidate for president.
His sin is that he tries to work with his Democratic colleagues, their sworn enemies in the Senate, to pass meaningful legislation. To these true conservatives any Democrat is a traitor, and McCain’s cooperation with Democrats puts him in their camp. From George W. Bush on down, their attitude is and always will be “my way or the highway.” It’s time to turn them out. Republican legislators who have given Bush their unqualified support don’t deserve to be reelected.
