LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Electing Obama has dire consequences

If you think of yourself as a moderate or a conservative and advocate the retention of our present democratic form of government, I think you had better carefully monitor the presidential candidates, not only for their rhetoric, but also for their actions. I do not include the liberal left in my plea as I do not believe they would listen to anything unrelated to their ultraleft agenda.

Sen. Barack Obama, a Democratic presidential hopeful, along with Sens. Chuck Hagel (Republican of Nebraska) and Maria Cantwell (Democrat of Washington) recently introduced S. 2433, legislation that concerns global poverty.

This bill, in essence, mandates that the U.S. president dramatically escalate America’s aid to help reduce world poverty. But we have more than enough financial woes in this country, and if we do not address them immediately, we will reach a point where any foreign financial aid will be impossible unless we further discount the value of all of our own citizenry.

This bill, in my opinion, indicates one of Sen. Obama’s goals, which is to create a worldwide egalitarian society. This issue alone should make any citizen who is satisfied with our present form of government give serious thought to whom they will vote for in the November presidential election.

This is a reminder to the younger generations that you have the most at stake in the years to come.
