Letter to the editor:

Both Democrats can win; one can best lead

It seems that rather than being on the horns of a dilemma, having to choose between the lesser of two evils, the voters are faced with the enviable choice of two candidates and one sure “also-ran” in this year’s presidential election.

Either Sen. Hillary Clinton or Sen. Barack Obama would trounce Sen. John McCain in November. My prediction is the greatest Democratic victory in history, which will essentially abolish the Republican Party for the near future.

The question remains as to the relative potential of the two Democratic candidates. I haven’t made up my mind, and probably won’t, until that decision is made for me.

The basic question, however, is one we should all consider. To resort to a cliche of the day, they both can “talk the talk,” quite eloquently as a matter of fact. Which of the two can best “walk the walk” on Jan. 20, 2009?

Sen. Obama would make an outstanding president, as would Sen. Clinton, but the operative date is January 2009. In the history of the NFL, a simile to which most of your male readers and probably their coaches (wives) can relate, all good quarterbacks have played on the second string at some time in their career.

I would suggest to Sen. Obama that, maybe, for the good of the country and his own legacy, he should help Madame President Clinton for a while, learning to walk before trying to run the team.
