Conservative Republicans love to describe Sen. Barack Obama as a far-left radical. But hold on, wait a minute. About 65 percent of Americans support the senator’s call to withdraw our troops from Iraq, and a large majority supports increased spending for our schools, health care and crumbling infrastructure, all promised by Sen. Obama.
He’s not on the far left, he’s marching right down the middle of the road, proposing solutions that have the approval of the majority of Americans. If you’re looking for a radical candidate, it’s Sen. John McCain, who wants to continue the fight in Iraq and who voted for Bush’s proposals last year 95 percent of the time.
So ignore conservative claims of a left-wing Sen. Obama — he wants the same things most Americans want. Sen. McCain does not.
