Vote for the best man, not his party

Regarding La Rue S. Boenig’s Thursday letter to the editor headlined “Democrats, close ranks or suffer”:

Voters should do some research into the background of a candidate before voting for just anyone who happens to be running on the Democratic ticket. Voters should be asked to support the individual who can best serve our country regardless of party affiliation.

We should vote for someone with integrity and experience and, most of all, someone who is proud of our country, who loves our country and who has proven that by words and deeds. Have we found those attributes in Sen. Barack Obama? The individual who assumes the presidency of the United States of America should come to that position armed with a history of achievement, not be given the opportunity to prove that he can or cannot successfully resolve the challenges facing our country.
