LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Ideology not to blame for ills of the world

What a broad brush David Fredericks wielded in his diatribe against conservatives in his letter published June 14.

Without evidence, he says conservative “belief” has made our food unsafe. What? A belief causes salmonella in tomatoes?

Without logic, Mr. Fredericks holds responsible conservative understanding of “equality” and “regulation” to be negative factors in the economy. It is fact that overregulation, restricting American business, resulted in much of what used to be performed in this country being moved to foreign soil.

Without discernible thought and refusing to acknowledge that Darwin admitted his postulations were theory, Mr. Fredericks considers “religion” and “creationism” the reasons why Generation X can’t do math, can’t read and can’t write a full paragraph consisting of a single cogent thought. Fredericks is evidence of the palpable ignorance most liberals have of real reasons for failures within our schools: the teachers, administrators, unions and politicians.

The non sequitur continues with meandering dependence on “global warming” theories and casting blame for destruction brought by drought and storms at the feet of conservatives. First, storms such as tornadoes require massive quantities of cold air. Second, Earth has experienced record cold; thus, tornado activity is exacerbated. Third, evidence exists that global warming is a farce and global cooling the fact.

Without understanding this country and its policies, Mr. Fredericks blames conservatives for Americans who have no medical coverage. The reason: Conservatives don’t share his belief in universal health care. He wants a new Social Security-Medicare system for health care.

Mr. Fredericks misses the mark because he cannot see past his political bias.
