As we all know, our state today faces a budget crisis of enormous proportion. We look upon any number of painful choices for solving it. And as we carefully consider how to best help the people of Nevada under these circumstances, every dollar we can save gains added importance.
That is why I’d like to take a minute to thank Sen. Harry Reid for his help in working with me and with Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie to save important Medicaid funding for our most vulnerable residents. His assistance in the Senate allowed us to protect tens of millions of dollars in the next few years for medical care for children, seniors and those with disabilities who otherwise can’t afford it. This is money that contributes to solving our budget situation, but more important, it’s money for Nevadans who have no other way of finding help.
Again, my thanks to the senator for his assistance in a time of great need in our state.
