Primm Valley upgrades give course greener look

The Lakes Course at Primm Valley Golf Club recently reopened after completing an extensive enhancement project.

This is the first major undertaking for Primm Valley Golf Club since the Lakes Course opened in 1997 and was later joined by the Desert Course in 1998. Both courses were originally designed by award-winning course architect Tom Fazio.

Located along Interstate 15 at the Nevada-California border (a 35-minute drive from Las Vegas), the Lakes Course is a player-friendly championship layout playing 6,945 yards. The course features generous fairways, extensive water features, well placed bunkering and acres of mature trees and native vegetation.

The enhancement project, overseen by head professional Rick Koffler, included a redesign and restructure of all of the Lakes Course's greens, detailed maintenance around all of the tee boxes and native areas, and an upgrade to the fairways and overall irrigation system.

The most noticeable change is the greens where T-1 bentgrass was installed. The T-1 holds up better against Poa annua infestation, which has been a longtime problem for Southern Nevada golf facilities. The T-1 also retains superior ground coverage under difficult growing conditions and provides championship putting surfaces.

"The courses have always been in great condition, but we believe the new greens and enhanced fairways will contribute to an even better experience," Koffler said.

The facility receives accolades annually from top golf publications.
