LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Why ‘pit bull’ fits Republicans to a T

After listening to Sarah Palin’s speech Wednesday, I almost thought I was watching Tina Fey on “Saturday Night Live.” She delivered a well-written, well-crafted speech (by some of the best speechwriters in the party), containing some great one-liners. The best was her distinction between a hockey mom and a pit bull: lipstick.

If she considers herself a pit bull, then she fits right in with the Republican Party. They have proved time and again they are vicious attack dogs, their main goal being to destroy without scruples. Remember what they did in 2000 within their own party (Bush slanders McCain) and remember what they did in 2004 to John Kerry (Swift Boat Kerry).

I did notice in her speech what was not mentioned: the economy, the home foreclosures, the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the unemployed due to jobs abroad, education, health insurance. She not once indicated just how she will help to implement the solution to all these problems.

And for her to compare her experience with Joe Biden’s is ludicrous. A governor for not quite two years against a senator of more than 35 years. When did we become a nation where our priorities consist of abortion, evangelicals and hockey moms?
