LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Palin saved her state on airfare

Let’s be fair and balanced. The Thursday letter to the editor from James J. Poupard hardly told the whole truth about the real Sarah Palin. The Washington Post gave the correct airfare reimbursement figures, but what Mr. Poupard failed to include was that the previous governor, Frank Murkowski, billed the state for $463,000 for airfare in 2006.

Now let me do some simple math here: Sarah billed the state for $93,000 for airfare in 2007, and the family bill was $43,490, which totals $136,490. It would appear that Sarah’s savings to the state was $326,510. Let’s stand up and give her a big hand, as more than 80 percent of Alaskans are doing.

Oh, by the way, you can’t drive to Juneau, Alaska’s capital. You can reach it only by air and that ain’t no bull!
