This one has the award (so far) for best political story of the season — and it doesn’t have anything to do with this season. Some folks here, apparently not happy with the local prospects available to challenge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2010, have been trying to get someone to persuade erstwhile presidential hopeful Mitt Romney to move here. Romney, of course, won the Nevada caucus and theoretically would be a strong candidate here because of that base and his Mormon roots. One source close to Romney says it’s not happening. But wouldn’t that be something? I wonder whether Rep. Jon Porter, if he were still congressman, would run in the primary and call him a carpetbagger?
