You may know that Oct. 2 is a much-awaited date on this year’s political calendar — it’s the night Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Delaware Sen. Joe Biden are scheduled to have at it in the vice presidential debate. Not since the Quayle-Bentsen veep debate of 1988 has one of these been so anticipated. What you probably don’t know, though, is that on the same day the Republican Governors Association will be having a forum in Las Vegas. Eight governors, including Nevada’s own Jim Gibbons, are slated to attend, and there will be a vice presidential debate-watch party with the governors. I need to wangle an invitation to that one. I understand it is taking place at the bar at McCormick & Schmick’s.
