LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Veterans too often ignored in this nation

All veterans organizations and the local Veterans Affairs facilities should be staunch advocates for veterans, especially during wartime.

We have 3,500 homeless veterans with about half from the Vietnam and first Gulf wars. Sadly, Iraq-Afghanistan veterans are entering our homeless population. That should not be tolerated. Make your voice heard and encourage all veterans organizations to join in.

We don’t want a repeat of the neglect of our Vietnam and first Gulf War veterans.

The writer is the veterans representative for the Southern Nevada Advocates for Homeless People, a nonprofit group.
