Rick Davis, John McCain’s campaign manager, has said, “This election is not about issues ... this election is about a composite of what people take away from these candidates.” The more I read and hear of people’s reaction to Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, the more I believe Mr. Davis is correct.
The media and the public must insist the candidates talk about the issues that affect all of us, such as the war, the economy, health care, the environment and renewable and fossil fuels. This nation is in trouble and we the voters need to stop treating the candidates like rock star idols.
We need a person of integrity, leadership and wisdom to guide us out of the mess we have been in these past 7 1/2 years. The mind-set that created this national mess cannot be the mind-set that gets us out of it.
Our country desperately needs a change of priorities and direction. Female voters, do not be swayed by the Palin carrot that McCain has dangled in front of us. If not Hillary Clinton, then my vote goes to Barack Obama-Joe Biden; Palin is no Clinton!
