FLASHPOINT:

To debate or not to debate

Sometimes Occam’s Razor applies. Take John McCain’s announcing he would suspend his campaign to help fix the economy and saying he wants to postpone Friday’s debate. As one wag put it: “Let me get this straight. The Washington Post publishes a poll that shows Obama leading by nine based mostly on the economy. Obama offers to do a joint statement with McCain to help pass the financial fix and could have helped consumer confidence. McCain seizes on opportunity to (1) get out of debate and (2) try to minimize his losses in the polls on the economy?” Sometimes political prisms should be tossed, but not this time. Can anyone think of a reason why we shouldn’t have a debate now to see who would be a better leader?
