LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Cellular vote could counter ‘Bubba’ vote

I read with interest Clarence Page’s Friday column on why Obama may lose if the polls show he has less than a 6-point lead over McCain, because the polls do not accurately reflect the “Bubba” vote.

Polling of land-line telephone subscribers also does not accurately reflect the preferences of those without land lines! Nobody I know has received a call from pollsters on a cell phone. Yet I know lots of folks who have cell phones but no land line, especially young people, who are more likely to vote Democratic in November.

So the Bubba effect will be offset by the “cellular effect,” possibly by more than 6 points.
