Mike Smith’s Thursday cartoon showing Sarah Palin afraid of a trick-or-treater dressed as a member of the press is all too real. As a woman, I am appalled that the McCain campaign has cosseted her, not letting her out without a chaperone. This is the epitome of paternalism that women have fought for generations.
Worse, why is the governor of Alaska, where I once lived and gave birth to my oldest daughter, allowing herself to be treated like a child? That’s not the kind of strong leader I want to see a heartbeat away from the presidency.
