America is reaping what it has sown

I am not worried one bit about the condition of our economy. We are getting what we deserve. For several years America has fallen into negative savings. We spend more than we earn. That makes for financial disaster.

In my family I see the young people purchasing expensive cars with payments they cannot afford. Too many Americans are eating out instead of cooking cheaper, nutritious meals at home. We drink too much, do too much drugs, eat too much. We are the new Rome, I believe, a society of hedonists.

I know there is no “cure” for degenerative gambling, but I have found the cure! The cure is no money. You cannot gamble if you do not have money. The same is true of all the other vices — it takes money to indulge them.

A financial bust could permanently change the living habits of our culture and bring it back to where it once was. Years ago we didn’t have credit cards — we paid cash. If you could not afford to buy it, you did without. We have become addicted to pleasure and that could end sooner than later.
