FLASHPOINT:

Central to the election plot

With just more than five weeks left until Election Day, the centrality of Nevada’s role in the 2008 balloting is becoming more clear. It’s now obvious that the state may be one of only a half-dozen or so that could determine the election — and never have we seen this much activity. If it’s not the glut of presidential TV ads, it’s the candidates and their surrogates coming to Nevada. Both Barack Obama and John McCain are expected to be in Reno this week as Washoe County becomes ground zero with its trending Democratic numbers. Mitt Romney will be here, too, helping McCain and Rep. Jon Porter. President Bush will be here, too, but, shockingly, not on the same stage as McCain. Or, for that matter, Porter.
