LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Outrage regarding Arizona’s law is misdirected

The Arizona Legislature passed and the governor signed an immigration law to try to protect the state’s citizens and solve the illegal immigrant problem.

There are estimated to be 450,000 illegal immigrants in Arizona. There are gun battles on interstates between rival illegal alien gangs.

Phoenix is becoming the kidnap capital of the United States. Refuse in the border areas left by transiting illegal immigrants amounts to tons a year. Ranchers on the border are murdered, property destroyed and cattle killed.

Where is the outrage?

Well, here it is. Civil rights groups, the president of the United States and the government of Mexico have all expressed disapproval of the law. Outrage abounds that Arizona would have the audacity to pass a law that would do anything to illegal immigrants and to protect the citizens of Arizona. Now that’s outrageous.

Remember in 1986, a similar problem existed. President Ronald Reagan gave amnesty to 3 million to 4 million illegal immigrants. What did that get us? Well, 10 million to 12 million additional illegal immigrants.

Every U.S. citizen should be outraged that this administration is trying to solve the illegal immigrant situation by making them legal. That is certainly one way to solve the problem, until next time when there are 20 million to 25 million illegal immigrants who are just too difficult to find and you can’t deport them all.

All citizens should be outraged by the way spineless politicians are attacking a national problem. Support Arizona and its attempt to solve the problem.
